The 2024 Summer Olympics marked a historic event, the re-opening of the Seine River for marathon swimming events. Prior to each race, the water had to be tested for toxicity, as the River was used to dump waste in the past. Multiple decontamination stations had been setup in the river, and still, the triathlon swim was held indoors due to high bacteria levels.
